Special Recording Session with Quincy
Jones in Los Angeles.
Lucy and Nick were called to L.A. to record their
own original song, "Even When You Forget" with Quincy
Jones. Their song, written for the Keep Memory
Alive Foundation for Alzheimer's Research, is a
powerfully touching and emotional story of a child and a
father. Quincy is an amazingly accomplished
musician and producer who is the most Grammy-nominated
artist in history, with 79 nominations and 27 wins.
In addition to his own musical career and producing
smashes like 'We Are the World,' he has produced artists
such as Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross,
just to name a few.
The song was arranged by musical genius, Mervyn Warren.
Warren, a 5-time Grammy Award winner and 10-time Grammy
Award nominee, is a highly accomplished film composer,
record producer, lyricist, songwriter, arranger, pianist
and vocalist. He was an original member of Take 6, the
a-capella sextet. An amazing talent!
The recording session was held at the iconic Capitol
Studios in Studio A. Quincy brought in one of his
new groups, Blush, a 5-girl Asian singing group, to sing
the background vocals and harmonies. Lucy then
took to the recording booth to sing her
part. Canadian vocal powerhouse, Nikki Yanofsky, is
slated to sing the lead. She is a quadruple
platinum selling artist who, at the young age of 16,
opened the Olympics when they were in Canada in 2010.
She will be releasing her first US Album this year.
Lucy and Nick are very excited about having had the
opportunity to work with Quincy, Mervyn, Nikki, and
Blush!

Country superstar Toby Keith
wears many hats: singer,
songwriter, producer, actor and
restaurateur -- and now he’s
launched his own fashion line!
Toby was in Las Vegas last week
for the biannual MAGIC
Marketplace, and before
unveiling the TK Steelman
clothes at a concert fashion
show, I sat down and talked with
him one-on-one.
Toby was nursing a bad cold
with whiskey and water, and he
didn’t want to go onstage to
sing for the crowd who’d come to
see the clothes. I told him if
it meant him humming or doing a
soft-shoe shuffle, he had to put
on some kind of a performance!
He gave in to the pleas and went
onstage with local band Lefty
Lucy in his I Love This Bar
& Grill inside Harrah’s.
Toby wowed the fans with his
songs and the fashions! His
empire continues to expand, and
last year Forbes named
him the top-earning male
musician at $48 million. He’s
sold 25 million albums since
2000, and he’s selling out
stadiums on his tour dates
across America. He’s about to
start filming Provinces of
Night with Hilary Duff, and
he’ll be back in town in April
nominated as Male Vocalist of
the Year by the Academy of
Country Music.

singing along by the end of the song. And the
audience response was overwhelming, and absolute thrill!
Next to take the stage was Leann Rimes who sang
beautifully. Once Kenny took the stage, the crowd
was deafening and he put on one heck of an exciting
show. Uncle Cracker even joined him for a couple
tunes, including their smash hit, "When the Sun Goes
Down." After the concert was over, all met back in
the Corona Tour Bus to rehash the big night.

LEFTY LUCY plays with Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert,
Flynnville Train & Trailer Choir. Sept 2007
In back to back weekends starting in Lake Tahoe then
continuing in Las Vegas, Lefty Lucy played host to some
great major Country recording artists. In Lake
Tahoe, LL was playing in the Cabo Wabo Cantina when
after just finishing a concert show outside, Toby Keith,
Miranda Lambert, Flynnville Train, and Trailer Choir
were all escorted into the VIP Red Rocker Room.
The place immediately amped up, and you could feel the
energy in the air. Members of each of the bands
got up to play. It was so crowded that they even
had trouble getting to the stage. One of the funny
highlights of the night was Miranda entering the stage
through a little cut out box in the wall, climbing
through, knocking over beer bottles and eventually
making a graceful jump onto the stage. She and
Lucy sang Kerosene while Lucy ripped out the solos on
the harmonica. the place went nuts.

TOBY KEITH joins LEFTY LUCY for the second year in a row
at his "I Love this Bar and Grill" in Las Vegas.
May 14, 2007
With the ACM Awards being held in Las Vegas on Tuesday
May 15, Toby was in Sin City and made his annual
appearance at his bar the night before the awards.
Toby introduced Flynnville Train, an act on his label,
'Show Dog Nashville,' and they put on a great set when
they opened up for Lefty Lucy. Great guys and
great energy! Once Lefty Lucy took to the stage,
the crowd was ready to go. The bar was filled to
capacity and everyone was there to have a great time...
and possibly hear a few songs from their hero.
After Lucy belted out some powerful tunes, the time was
right and he was good and ready, Toby entered the stage
to screaming fans. He was only supposed to sing
one song, but was having such a great time, he kept
asking to sing more! The fans were going nuts.
In all, he sang about 4 songs, "I Love this Bar" of
course, followed by 'Get Drunk and Be Somebody,"
"Whiskey Girl," and finally, "Little Less Talk."
Toby really took the time to talk to the crowd, did his
famous lyric substitutions to fit the room and really
connected with his loyal fans. Flashbulbs were
popping, people were jumping and Toby was loving every
minute of it. Toby was very impressed with the
Lefty Lucy band for backing him up flawlessly, singing
great harmonies, and graciously encouraging him to stay
up until he had had his fill. Lefty Lucy closed
out the night to a packed house. Definitely a
memorable night for all!

LEFTY LUCY Opens for the Oak Ridge Boys. February
2007.
Lefty Lucy landed the opening band spot for the Oak
Ridge Boys at the Dallas Events Center in Texas Station.
They played their original music for a packed house of
about 1,000 people. The "Boys" themselves were
very impressed by the opening set and had many
compliments for Lefty Lucy. Later on in the
evening, some of the the Oak Ridge Boys' Band stopped by
Club Armadillo to join Lefty Lucy on stage for a jam
session. The audience loved it and the jam on
stage was incredible. Kudos to the Boys, see you
in Vegas next time around!

NEAL SCHON from Journey and Lefty
Lucy out for Thanksgiving, November 2006.
What a thankful evening in Las Vegas! Turkey,
stuffing, mashed potatoes and Journey! Lefty Lucy shared
a Thanksgiving meal with Journey's lead guitar player,
Neal Schon. The fixin's were great, as expected,
but the after dinner entertainment was off the hook.
Once the guitar came out, the songs started flowing.
Lucy belted out some of Journey's favorites like, "Don't
Stop Believing," "Stone in Love," and "Faithfully" to
name a few. Neal couldn't keep his hands off the
guitar, and was loving every minute of it. After
the last strum of the six string, the party then moved
on to Toby Keith's "I Love this Bar and Grill" at
Harrah's Casino. They had the VIP room all ready
for the grand arrival and the rock star stories flowed
like wine. Must be rough to be one of the best
guitar players in the world!

TOBY KEITH joins Lefty Lucy on stage at his "I Love
this Bar and Grill."- May 23, 2006
Las Vegas was crawling with Country Music's best last
night, as The Academy of Country Music Awards were held
at the MGM Grand on May 23, 2006. After attending
the ACM Awards presentation and enjoying live
performances by Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Toby
Keith, to mention a few... Lucy and Nick returned to
Harrah's and prepared to play with the Lefty Lucy band
at Toby's "I Love this Bar and Grill." The
curtains were drawn in Toby's VIP room and the rumors
swirled that the big boss man was inside. Moments
before taking the stage Lucy was secretly ushered into
the VIP room to meet with Toby and Harrah's president,
Don Marrandino. It was decided that Marrandino
would join the band for a couple tunes, one of which was
Toby's own "Stays in Mexico." Lucy riled everyone
up when she sang Janis Joplin on top of the bar.
Lefty Lucy killed the set and the crowd was electric!
After a brief break, Lefty Lucy took the stage for the
second set. The crowd was rocking' and after only
a few songs, the word was given that there was to be a
special guest on stage... Toby Keith, himself!
Toby was ushered onto the stage and the place erupted!
Toby sang his bar's namesake, "I Love this Bar," and
then continued with his newest hit, "Get Drunk and Be
Somebody." When he finished, he graciously thanked
everyone and said that he had to go catch a flight to
the Middle East. Toby was given a boisterous
farewell and Lefty Lucy kept the show rocking until the
wee hours. What a night for all! Best of
luck to Toby on his tour. We'll keep a good watch
on your bar while you're away.
